For over 450 years, the famous “real East Frisian blend” has been the national drink of East Frisians. In 2017, the German commission for UNESCO awarded the East Frisian tea ceremony the official rank of intangible Cultural Heritage.

The UNESCO considers it a specialty how deeply the East Frisian tea culture is rooted in the regional language as well as in the tangible culture. In addition to a variety of Low German expressions and idioms, a distinctive tea set was developed – the “East Frisian Rose”, a fine porcelain with rose décor.

The tea itself is extraordinary, that’s a given. It carries the name “Real East Frisian blend” and may only be called “real” when it is assorted, blended and packed by companies local to East Frisia. The blend is a fine formula of black tea, which owes its strong flavor mainly to Assam teas.

This is a special UNESCO award for East Frisia and its unique culture of tea connoisseurs, which fills us with pride as one of the last tea trading houses for Real East Frisian Blends.
